Paulo Maia

Paulo Maia, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC

Paulo Maia became Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank Australia in July 2009. Maia was previously Deputy Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank Brazil, responsible for HSBC’s retail banking and consumer finance businesses as well as insurance, marketing and products, service, operations and technology.

From 2007 until 2008, Mr Maia was Head of Personal Financial Services in Brazil, responsible for HSBC’s retail banking operations. Between 2000 and 2006, he was Head of HSBC’s Commercial Banking business in Brazil, responsible for clients across small, medium and corporate client base, as well as core commercial products. He was appointed Executive Director of HSBC Bank Brazil in 2000. From 1997 until 1999, he was Director Corporate Banking at HSBC in Brazil, responsible for global multinationals and Brazil’s largest public and private sector companies. In 1997, Mr Maia came to Brazil from the UK as the HSBC Group acquired Banco Bamerindus do Brasil, where he took part in the acquisition process and the setting up of HSBC Bank Brazil.

Maia joined HSBC in 1993 when he worked in the representative office in São Paulo as Director Corporate Finance and at the Group’s headquarters in London as Senior Manager Emerging Markets.

Prior to joining HSBC, he held positions in corporate finance and corporate banking in New York, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Graham Heunis

Graham Heunis, Head of Personal Financial Services, HSBC

Graham Heunis is Head of Personal Financial Services in Australia.

Heunis is responsible for HSBC's retail bank as well as its consumer finance and cards operations in Australia.

Graham Heunis has been with HSBC since 2002, previously responsible for the Bank's retail banking. Prior to that he was as Head of Wealth Management, responsible for financial planning, insurance and Premier.

Before joining HSBC, worked for the Commonwealth Bank, establishing its premium banking service as well as Woolworths Ezy Banking.

Prior to that he worked in South Africa as a qualified chartered accountant and in corporate finance before migrating to Australia.

Head of Commercial Banking

Noel McNamara

Noel McNamara, Head of Commercial Banking, HSBC

Noel McNamara is Head of Commercial Banking for HSBC in Australia.

In this role he is responsible for HSBC's commercial banking for clients from small medium enterprises to middle market and large corporates. Dedicated client relationship teams in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth work closely with sector and product specialists from across transactional banking, trade services and global markets to provide clients with tailored solutions, integrating the full range of HSBC's domestic and international banking services.

Noel McNamara joined HSBC in 1995 and has worked in a range of commercial and corporate banking roles in South Australia as well as New South Wales. Prior to his role as Head of Commercial Banking, he was NSW State Manager for middle market clients.

Before joining HSBC McNamara worked for Standard Chartered Bank in Australia as well as Westpac Banking Corporation.

Head of Global Banking and Markets

Tony Cripps

Tony Cripps, Head of Global Banking and Markets, HSBC

Tony Cripps is Head of Global Banking and Markets for HSBC in Australia.

In this role he is responsible for sales and trading (foreign exchange, rates, credit and structured derivatives), balance sheet management, debt finance and advisory, institutional wealth management (Global Investments) as well as HSBC Securities Services and relationship management of the Bank's global corporate and institutional clients.

From 2006 to 2009 Tony was Head of the Global Markets business for HSBC Australia. Cripps was previously Managing Director, Head of e-Commerce, Corporate Investment Banking and Markets, for the HSBC Group from 2004 to 2006. Prior to this, Cripps worked for HSBC in London from 2003 to 2004 with worldwide responsibility for e-Commerce, Global Markets, reporting to Stuart Gulliver, Head of Global Markets, HSBC Group.

Before London, Cripps was in Hong Kong from 2000 to 2003 where he was appointed Head of e-Commerce for HSBC Asia Pacific. Previously, Cripps was Head of Foreign Exchange and Rates Strategy for HSBC Asia Pacific, a role he held from 1997-2001. In addition to his Strategy role, Cripps oversaw a team to plan and implement global initiatives for e-trading.

Cripps began his career with Wardley Australia in 1986 as a Sydney Futures Exchange floor trader. He later went on to manage the Futures Business in Australia and became Head of Derivatives Trading for HSBC in 1990, and Head of Strategic Trading three years later.
