Economic Research and Market Analysis

Our research gives you in-depth economic market analysis, including the team's publication Australia and New Zealand Weekly. Our technical research service offers daily, weekly and monthly reports covering G7, Asian forex and interest rate markets. Our services cover the Asian, UK, US, European, emerging, fixed interests and currency markets.

 

Foreign Exchange Service

HSBC in Australia provides a comprehensive foreign exchange service to corporate, institutional, trade and retail clients on a 24-hour basis through its global network. Corporate and institutional dealers offer pricing, commentaries, presentations and tailored solutions to a cross- section of customers.

HSBC offers an online trade execution service that provides 24 hour coverage for foreign exchange.

 

Futures Clearing Service

As part of the Global Team the Futures business in Australia offers extensive execution and clearing service for futures contracts on both Australian and offshore exchanges. We provide services to HSBC Group Treasury offices as well as to an extensive reputable client base for execution and clearing of futures transactions.

 

Interest Rate Derivatives

Our interest rate derivative team provides tailored interest rate risk management solutions for both asset and liability clients. Solutions may range from simple vanilla structures used to manage underlying debt facilities, to complex interest rate structures that incorporate intricate cash flows to exactly manage an underlying project financing

 

Money Market

Our money desk accepts Australian dollar deposits for periods ranging from call to five years. Interest can be paid monthly, quarterly or at maturity and early repayment of deposits can be accommodated. Deposits in most foreign currencies, with emphasis on the US dollar and all Asian currencies, are also available. Deposits are accepted for periods from call to one year. The money desk also provides short term loans in Australia dollars and in most currencies.

 

Precious Metals

The local arm of the global precious metals business with a full range of bullion banking services to the Australian mining industry. We provide corporate and project finance facilities in either cash or gold. Our hedging products are structured to address our client's major financial risks - the gold price, currency, interest rates and metal lease rates. Products range from vanilla gold forwards to complex option and metal-based structures.

 

Structured Products

In Australia, HSBC offers a full range of structured products. We have a dedicated team focused on the delivery of Structured Equity investment solutions and Structured Credit products for wholesale customers. In addition we offer the full range of structured interest rate products, including Callable Range Accrual Notes and enhanced deposit structures. In 2008 we will also be launching the HSBC 100+ Series of Structured Fund Capital Protected investments for retail customers.

 

HSBC Research

Sydney-based HSBC Chief Economist for Australia and New Zealand John Edwards writes the Australia and New Zealand Weekly, providing clients with analysis of key economic trends in those economies. It also contains a weekly and monthly economic calendar prepared by the research team. Clients of HSBC in Australia and New Zealand can have this report emailed to them by their HSBC sales contact.
