Important Changes to Credit Cards Online effective 10 May 2009

HSBC's Credit Cards online will change on 10 May 2009. We're adding new features and creating a more secure logon to give you the best online banking experience possible.

You will need to update your Credit Cards online logon details the first time you logon from 10 May 2009.


Logging on the first time from 10 May 2009

The first time you logon from 10 May 2009, your logon screen will look different.

You will need to log on the usual way using the last 12 digits of your Credit Card number.

You will then be prompted to enter the 3 random digits requested of your current 6 digit Access Code as well as set up your own personalised "Memorable Word" which will become your unique password every time your logon from 10 May 2009.


3 simple steps the first time you logon from 10 May 2009

Simply follow the screen prompts which will guide you every step of the way:

Step 1
Enter your last 12 digits of your Credit Card number as per usual.
(Note: you do not need to enter your 6 digit Access Code at this stage).

Step 2
Enter the 3 random digits requested of your current 6 digit Access Code and set up your Memorable Word.

Example: If your current Access Code is 438966 and the screen asks to enter the "First, Second and Fourth character", you enter 4,3 and 9.

Step 3
Logon again by entering your last 12 digits of your Credit Card number, Access Code and your new Memorable Word, then accept the new Terms and Conditions.

After these 3 simple steps you will be ready to continue to enjoy fast, convenient and more secure access to HSBC Credit cards Online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Subsequent logons from 10 May 2009

After the first time you have logged on from 10 May 2009, for all subsequent logons you will simply need to follow 2 steps:

Step 1
Enter your last 12 digits of your Credit Card number.

Enter the 3 random digits requested of your personalised 6 digit Access Code and your new personalised Memorable Word.

Enhanced Functionality

As well as a more secure logon, we’ve also added new features to give you an even better online banking experience.

From 10 May 2009, you’ll be able to enjoy:

E-Statements (Electronic Statements)

HSBC Credit Card customers will now have the option of viewing their statements online. The E-Statements will be a PDF of the paper based statement and look identical to the paper copy.
