How soon will I get my new credit card?

Please allow 7 days from approval of your application to receive your new card, which will need to be activated before you can start using it. If you have not received it within this time, please call HSBC on 132 152 (or +61 132 152 from overseas).

For HSBC Premier customers, please call the HSBC Premier Centre on 1300 301 168.


 

Can I use my HSBC credit card as soon as I receive it in the post?

For security reasons, you must call HSBC on 132 152 (or +61 132 152 from overseas) to activate your new credit card.

Just follow these 4 easy steps:
1. Call 132 152
2. Enter your card number
3. Follow the prompts to register your account for our automated banking services
4. Once registered, select the card activation option and follow the prompts

Your card will be activated once this is completed successfully.

For HSBC Premier customers, please call the HSBC Premier Centre on 1300 301 168 and have your HSBC Premier Credit Card with you for Activation.


 

Am I authorised to activate my credit card as an additional cardholder?

Only the primary cardholder can activate the card(s) by calling HSBC on 132 152 (or +61 132 152 from overseas).

Just follow these 4 easy steps:
1. Call 132 152
2. Enter your (primary) card number
3. Follow the prompts to register your account for our automated banking services (if you're not already registered), otherwise key in your Access Code
4. Select the card activation option and follow the prompts. You'll need the Additional Card Number and Expiry Date.

The Additional card will be activated once this is completed successfully.

For HSBC Premier customers, please call the HSBC Premier Centre on 1300 301 168 and have your HSBC Premier Credit Card with you for Activation.


 

Will I be issued with a PIN number?

You will automatically be issued with a four digit PIN number for use with your new HSBC credit card. For security purposes, this will be sent to you separately, after the card itself.

If you have any questions about your PIN, please call HSBC on 132 152 (or +61 132 152 from overseas).

For queries relating to your HSBC Premier Credit Card, please call the HSBC Premier Centre on 1300 301 168.

How can I keep my PIN number safe?

Your PIN is your personal security system. You should follow these simple rules to keep it safe:

  • Memorise your PIN when you receive it and destroy your PIN notification immediately
  • Do not record your PIN on your card, on any article kept near or with your card, or with your card number
  • Do not tell anyone your PIN, other than an additional cardholder
  • Avoid allowing anyone to watch you entering your PIN
  • If you suspect someone knows your PIN, request a new one immediately by calling HSBC on 132 152 (or +61 132 152 from overseas), or if you are a HSBC Premier customer, please call the HSBC Premier Centre on 1300 301 168

When will I get my first statement?

Your first statement will be sent within four weeks of the first transaction on the account (this can include balance transfers and annual fees), regardless of whether or not the card is activated. The statement will clearly show the minimum repayment amount (if applicable) and the due date for payment.
