The speed at which you can send and receive payments is changing.

With the New Payments Platform (NPP), sending and receiving payments can now be as fast and simple as sending a text message. Simply download the HSBC Mobile Banking app to benefit from Fast Payments.

Fast Payments

You can send and receive Fast Payments via eligible HSBC accounts through the NPP.

Sending Fast Payments is available via the HSBC Mobile Banking app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fast Payments are near real-time local bank payments that are cleared and settled usually within 15 seconds via the New Payments Platform (NPP).

The New Payments Platform (NPP) enables customers of different participating local banks to make and receive real-time payments, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Sending Fast Payments will only be available via the HSBC Mobile Banking app. To send a Fast Payment make sure you have downloaded the latest mobile app version.

You do not need to do anything to receive Fast Payments. As long as your account is eligible, we will process the payment as a Fast Payment, and you can confirm receipt via either Online Banking or the Mobile Banking app.

Only following payments will be sent as Fast Payments

You are making a payment from an AUD account
You are making an immediate payment (Payment date = Today)
Payment is to another local bank eligible to receive Fast Payments

Recurring or future dated payments. These will take 1-2 working days to process from the payment date.
Payments from a foreign currency (non-AUD) account. These will take 1-2 working days to process from the payment date.
Payment to a 3rd party account within HSBC Australia. These will be processed internally in real time.

If the receiving bank or financial institution or the beneficiary account is not eligible to receive Fast Payments, then the payment will take 1-2 days to process.

HSBC supports single credit transfer Fast Payments, however, some banks do not support this payment type and their customers are unable to make Fast Payments to HSBC.

At HSBC we take it very seriously when someone uses our payment platforms to engage in threatening, abusive, intimidating or criminal activity.

PayID is an easy-to-remember identifier, such as a mobile phone number or email address that can be linked to an eligible account to receive Fast Payments within Australia. HSBC does not support PayID at this stage.
