How to unlock HSBC Premier status

To become an HSBC Premier customer, you’ll need to meet one of these criteria:
  • deposit AUD9,000 into an HSBC Australia transaction or savings account each month10 ; or,
  • maintain a minimum combined balance of AUD150,000 equivalent in an HSBC Australia transaction, savings11, HSBC Invest12or WorldTrader13 account

Terms and conditions

  1. You will earn 2% cashback on eligible purchases under $100 when you tap and pay with Visa payWave, Apple Pay or Google Pay™. This will be paid into your Everyday Global Account with the maximum cashback you can earn being $50 per calendar month. Eligible purchases must be made in Australian Dollars and where the merchant or its financial institution/ payment processor is registered in Australia. Purchases which are excluded for cashback include business, gambling and government transactions (including public transport).   2. Other banking services fees and charges may apply, including correspondent bank fees for international transfers. Please see our Personal Banking Booklet (PDF).
  3. Terms and conditions apply to the use of Apple Pay and Google Pay. Apple, the Apple logo, iPhone and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the US and other countries. Apple Pay and Apple Watch are trademarks of Apple Inc. For a list of compatible Apple Pay devices, see support.apple.com/km207105. Google Pay is currently available for Android devices running 4.4 (KitKat) or higher with a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna and Host Card Emulation (HCE) support to make purchases in stores and in apps.
  4. Non-HSBC branded ATMs and some HSBC Group ATMs may charge an ATM operator fee for withdrawals or balance enquiries at their ATMs.
  5. Available in countries and territories where Visa is accepted, which includes over 200 locations as indicated in the 2023 Visa fact sheet. Visa-accepted ATM locations may be found using the Visa Global ATM Locator. We cannot guarantee overseas ATM or merchant facility availability, as this may vary depending on the scheme providers' arrangements and individual ATM and merchant facility availability. Please refer to the Visa fact sheet for more information.

  6. Where a currency is not one of the listed currencies available with the Everyday Global Account or is in a restricted currency (such as Chinese Renminbi (CNY), the money will be deducted from the AUD account. Any ATM withdrawals or purchases will be automatically converted into the local currency at the Visa exchange rate.
  7. Visa Zero Liability subject to investigation of unauthorised transaction.

  8. Global Transfers allows instant transfers between your international and domestic HSBC Premier accounts, at no extra charge. Global View and Global Transfers is not available in all markets.
  9. You may request up to USD2,000, and further amounts may be made available upon application, assessment, and approval by HSBC. Funds will only be provided in countries where HSBC is located and where you present adequate identification (such as your Passport, HSBC Premier World Mastercard® or HSBC Premier Visa Debit Card). You can request advance information about any fees, charges and interest that may apply. HSBC will only advance these funds if the laws of the country you're in allow us to do this, and will be subject to your HSBC product terms and conditions.
  10. This includes funds paid into any HSBC Australia transaction account, savings account, mortgage offset account or home loan account. It excludes funds deposited in foreign currency and funds transferred from another HSBC Australia account, including from another HSBC customer.
  11. This does not include funds held in HSBC Offset Savings account or an HSBC home loan account. Savings held in a foreign currency contributes to the AUD150,000 in savings criteria. HSBC has the discretion to determine the AUD equivalent foreign currency amount based on our own internal currency exchange rate calculation.

  13. HSBC Australia has the discretion to determine the AUD equivalent of your WorldTrader balance and when it is calculated during the month. In limited cases, deposits made into your WorldTrader account near the end of the month may not be fully reflected in the same month's eligibility review.
