To be eligible for Fast Track to Star Alliance Gold Status, you must apply and be approved for a new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card and spend $4,000 on eligible purchases within the first 90 days from account opening. Star Alliance Gold status is granted through the corresponding status tier in the Frequent Flyer Program (FFP) of the participating Star Alliance Member Airline you nominate as your Status Airline through the Star Alliance Rewards Program. You may only request status with one participating Frequent Flyer Program each time you qualify and may not switch Programs during the duration of that status. Any status granted under the HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card is withdrawn immediately if you close your HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card account. Offer is limited to new applicants only. Existing HSBC customers transferring from another HSBC credit card or customers who have held a HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card within the last 18 months are ineligible for this offer.

The Annual Fee will be $0 in the first year, then $499 in subsequent years and is subject to change. Therefore, the first annual fee will be debited on the 12-month anniversary of the first transaction on your account and annually thereafter. $0 Annual Fee in the first year does not apply to existing HSBC customers transferring from another HSBC credit card.

To be eligible for the introductory Balance Transfer interest rate, the Balance Transfer request must be made when applying for the new HSBC credit card and must be from non-HSBC credit cards. The total balance transfer amount must not exceed 90% of your approved credit limit. For the HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card, the introductory interest rate on the Balance Transfer applies for 12 months from the day the Balance Transfer has posted. After this period, any balance outstanding will accrue interest at the current variable cash advance rate (currently 21.99% p.a.). HSBC will allocate payments we receive from you to pay off the portion of your balance which attracts the highest interest rate first, and then to portions of your balance that attract lower interest rates. This may mean applying all payments made to your Star Alliance Credit Card account to pay off other transactions such as purchases and cash advances before any balance transfer amount.

The Balance Transfer Fee will be calculated at 2% of the balance being transferred to your HSBC credit card account. This fee is applied at the time the balance is transferred and forms part of the total outstanding balance.

Terms and conditions apply for the Home&Away Privilege Program

Up to 55 days interest free on purchases will depend on when you make your purchases, when your statement is issued, and if you pay off the outstanding balance on your next statement of account on or before the due date. There is no interest free period for cash advances. You will only receive the benefit of an interest free period on purchases if you pay your full closing balance (excluding any balance transfer, cash transfer and promotional purchases) by the due date.

Earn 30,000 welcome bonus Voyager Miles when you spend AUD4,000 or more on eligible purchases in your first 90 days from account opening. Only Primary cardholders that apply and are approved for a new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card between 3 March 2025 to 31 May 2025 will be eligible for the welcome bonus. Gold companion status can be requested once the HSBC credit card holder has received Star Alliance Gold status with South African Airways Voyager. The Gold companion status will be valid until 31 December 2026 as long as the primary cardholder maintains their Star Alliance Gold Status.
