How to set up a Digital Secure Key (DSK) on your device

If you’ve already registered for online banking, select ‘Yes, log on’ or to register, tap ‘No, register now’ and follow the prompts
Make sure your physical photo ID is nearby before tapping 'Continue'
Enter your online banking username and tap ‘Continue’
Tap ‘I accept' to agree to HSBC’s Privacy Declaration
Select your preferred ID type (Driving licence, Passport, Other) then tap 'Continue'
Follow the instructions based on your ID type and tap 'Continue'
Take a photo of your ID and tap 'Looks good' or retake if necessary. If you’re using your driving licence, you’ll also be asked to photograph the back
After reading the instructions for taking a selfie, tap 'Next'
Position your face in the circle on the screen and tap 'Start'
Nod your head slightly and once the selfie is taken, tap 'Continue'
After verification, tap ‘Send code’ to receive a One Time Password (OTP) sent to your mobile
Enter the OTP and tap ‘Continue’ to set up a PIN
Create a 6-digit PIN and then re-enter to confirm
You’ll see a confirmation page asking you to ‘Log on’ to access the mobile app

Frequently asked questions

For security reasons, your Digital Secure Key can only be registered to one device at a time.

You don’t need a mobile signal to use Digital Secure Key, so roaming settings won’t affect it. You do need a network or WiFi signal to access Mobile Banking services in the HSBC app, or for your initial download and set-up of the Digital Secure Key. Remember, your internet usage will be subject to your carrier’s usage limits and charges.

The Digital Secure Key (DSK) can only be active on one device at a time. Please remove it from your old device using the following steps:

Log on to the HSBC AU app and tap the profile icon in the top right of the screen
Select ‘Security’, then choose ‘Manage devices’
Under the ‘This device’ section, select the arrow in the white box
Tap ‘Remove’, then confirm by selecting ‘Yes, remove device’

You can then follow the instructions above to set up a DSK on your new device.

If you no longer have your old device or you've deleted the mobile app without deactivating your DSK, please call 1300 306 543 for help.
